Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer will play a crucial role in evaluating and improving quality control processes, ensuring manufacturing feasibility, and optimizing production workflows. This position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Maintenance, and Production, to enhance equipment design, validate processes, and train staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with experience in process analysis, equipment maintenance, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate quality control processes and recommend improvements to enhance product quality.
  • Assess manufacturing feasibility and optimize process flow for efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager on new equipment design and procurement.
  • Develop and maintain process instructions and equipment validation protocols.
  • Analyze production processes and provide data-driven insights to management for strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant government regulations and industry standards.
  • Review and calculate production costs, schedules, and future requirements.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs, ensuring adherence to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Support product and process development with a focus on cost savings and efficiency.
  • Maintain systems/ERP support for BOM, labor, and process tracking.
  • Train production staff on equipment and process-related best practices.
  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues, collaborating closely with production operators.
  • Recommend and implement layout improvements to enhance material flow.
  • Assess process performance regularly and communicate findings to relevant departments.
  • Assist with other duties/projects as assigned, including support for design and quality engineering initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, OR
    • Bachelor’s degree in physical science or mathematics with 1+ years of experience, OR
    • Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with 3+ years of experience, OR
    • Associate’s degree in physical science or mathematics with 3+ years of experience, OR
    • 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering position.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of engineering and technology principles, including practical applications in electrical and physiological environments.
    • Understanding of physics, design processes, and statistical analysis.
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting, equipment selection, and operations analysis.
    • Experience with quality control analysis and systems analysis.
  • Computer Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
    • Familiarity with SolidWorks and Sage 100.
  • Other Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions impacting co-workers, clients, and company reputation.
    • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret and relay information effectively.

Physical Demands

  • Repetitive movements, including bending, twisting, and handling objects.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
