Report To: Facilities Manager

Job Goal: To encourage productivity, cooperation, and pride in one’s work.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety First report all safety issues immediately to the supervisor

  • Maintain and clean the building and grounds at all times

  • Work with the Principal, Office Manager, and Facilities Manager to complete daily tasks as needed

  • All work will be in a safe. Orderly fashion.

  • Fill out all safety reports accurately per the New Jersey Dept of Education.

  • Complete Absence Report when out sick. Call Office Manager at least one hour before the beginning of the workday when calling out sick

  • To perform custodial duties when asked by the Principal, Office Manager, and Facilities manager

  • To complete a daily check on all air conditioning, refrigeration, water, sewerage, lighting, electrical systems, etc. Maintaining that they are operating in a safe working order

  • .To notify their supervisor in simple time of all needs (i.e., paper products, cleaning supplies, mechanical parts) to keep the building operating

  • Carry a cell phone daily. The cell phone must be active 24 hours daily to respond to emergencies (i.e., fire alarm, break-in, etc.)

  • Weekend work will be for 29-hour workers unless necessary

  • Each individual must fill out an overtime sheet 48 hrs in advance and have the principal or supervisor sign for approval email is ok in an emergency.

  • Develop a workable system of preventive maintenance

  • Coordinates weekday, weekend, and holiday activities daily to run efficiently.

  • Keep buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, always neat and clean.

  • Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide comfortable temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity,

  • Notify the supervisor of repairs needed ASAP before calling the vendor for repair. It will be your responsibility to coordinate access to the vendor

  • Change air filters regularly.

  • Performs routine painting, plumbing, electrical repairs, and other related maintenance activities using hand tools

  • Shovel snow at all doorways down or up to landings throughout the snow event.

  • Ensure all fire exit doors close and latch and panic bars work correctly.

  • Clean Hallways after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it

  • Replace broken windows and screens as needed

  • Keep the grounds free from rubbish

  • Comply with local laws and procedures for storing and disposing of trash, rubbish, and waste from your assigned building.

  • Keep all floors in a clean, attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.

  • Report immediately to your supervisor and principal any damage to school property.

  • Notify the supervisor if leaving campus during work hours

  • Performs inspections on roof drains to ensure proper flow to downspouts

  • Occasionally works on ladders and scaffolds to change lightbulbs, paint banners, clean walls,

  • Remove cardboard or recyclables to dumpster locations

  • Ability to perform a manual task either alone or with a group

  • Ability to team lift objects over 40 LBS.
