Security System Maintenance Technician
San Diego, CA

Black Creek Integrated Systems, a national supplier of computerized electronic security systems for the correctional industry with an unequalled reputation for innovation and excellence, is seeking a well-qualified and experienced detention electronics technician for a full-time on-site position with the responsibility of maintaining the electronic security control system at multiple San Diego County Jail facilities in San Diego, California.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform daily operational readiness review of the Black Creek Security Control System and apprise Facility’s representative of system status.
  • Create trouble tickets for any deficiencies noted during operational readiness review
  • Receive, through the agreed upon County Work Order System/Procedures, trouble tickets related to the Security Control System and/or its components.
  • Troubleshoot and correct deficiencies noted during readiness review and trouble tickets received.
  • Maintain an up-to-the minute update of the status of each outstanding trouble ticket in the Work ​​​​​​Order System.
  • Advise Facility’s representative of status of each work order.
  • Keep Facility’s representative apprised of parts requirements and look-ahead spare parts stock ​​​​​​needs.
  • Perform normal preventative maintenance tasks for Security Control System components to ​​​​​provide the highest possible level of operational readiness.
  • Install, terminate, and test replacement security system field devices.
  • Install software/firmware updates to system and equipment as directed by the Black Creek Service ​​​​​​Department.
  • Perform post-update testing to verify system integrity.
  • Act as primary liaison between San Diego County personnel and Black Creek for all issues related ​​​​​​to the Security Control System.
  • Coordinate parts replacement and repair with the Black Creek Service Department to provide ​​​​​​timely repair services to system components.
  • Submit written reports on a schedule as requested by Black Creek.
  • Travel between San Diego County facilities as required.
  • Maintain good, clear driving record.
  • Maintain ability to pass criminal history/background checks as required.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations with all San Diego County personnel and visitors
  • Other duties as directed by Black Creek management.

​Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years low voltage or security system installation/maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of personal computers, programmable logic controllers, and Ethernet networks
  • Strong electrical background
  • Exceptional electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills
  • Extensive knowledge in terminal strip, punch block, cat. 6 and minor solder terminations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and understand basic electrical schematics and instructions
  • Ability to maintain wire termination standards and color coding
  • Ability to differentiate colors
  • Ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must furnish basic hand tools
  • Must be able to pass a criminal history/background check to work inside correctional facilities
  • Must possess a valid driver license and a clear driving record
  • Occasional travel out of state may be required.

Education:

  • Two-year electronics degree or equivalent military experience preferred
  • A+ Certification preferred
