Design Consultant Job Description

At Chapin Furniture we are a relational organization that believes our people are our greatest asset.

The Design Consultant Position requires the ability to guide a client through the residential design process by listening to their needs, and helping coordinate fabrics, furniture, textures and colors that will create inspiring spaces for living. We encourage and offer in-home design services and space planning in order to provide the best possible scenario for creating beautiful homes for our clients. We staff multiple Interior Designers at our location in order to appropriately handle the number of requests presented through our brick and mortar and online channels. Though the Design Consultant position focuses more on the sales aspect of our business, we do require the Consultant to go through an online educational course after hire, to be better equipped for the fuller aspects of Interior Design as well. Previous sales experience is required for this position, as well as a desire to grow your interior design skills.

This position does require working Saturdays, and busy holiday weekends, so that we have the opportunity to service the most clients. We are closed on Sundays. Our Designers also receive one other day off during the work week, making it a five-day work week, with a rotation off on Sundays and Mondays every several weeks to provide a longer weekend.

Previous experience in the home furnishings industry is a huge plus.

  • Residential and Commercial Interior Design services

 

CANDIDATE'S NEEDED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to sell your ideas and the products associated with home furnishings projects
  • Excellent relational skills
  • A great eye for design, and putting rooms together
  • Passion for new trends, color, technology and home furnishings, and the ability to guide clients through the design process for their homes / businesses
  • Ability to relate to clients with Excitement, Integrity, and Creativity
  • Must enjoy working in fast-paced environment, with ability to help multiple clients simultaneously on busy days
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and staff
  • Completion of training requirements as necessary
  • Previous sales and design experience required, preferably in the home furnishings field
