Design Consultant Job Description

At Chapin Furniture we are a relational organization that believes our people are our greatest asset.

The Design Consultant Position requires the ability to guide a client through the residential design process by listening to their needs, and helping coordinate fabrics, furniture, textures and colors that will create inspiring spaces for living.  No Interior Design degree is necessary for this role, but the desire, passion, and interest in this field are necessary in order to help train the candidate to for success.  In this role we are looking for a strong background and temperament for sales, combined with the desire to grow as a Designer and help our clients build beautiful, functional, well-coordinated living spaces.

This position does require working Saturdays, and busy holiday weekends, so that we have the opportunity to service the most clients. We are closed on Sundays. Our Designers also receive one other day off during the work week, making it a five-day work week, with a rotation off on Sundays and Mondays every several weeks to provide a longer weekend.

Previous experience in the home furnishings industry is a huge plus.

  • Extensive Tempurpedic, Stearns and Foster, Sealy Mattress Gallery to source bedding needs
  • Residential and Commercial Interior Design services

 

CANDIDATE'S NEEDED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to sell your ideas and the products associated with home furnishings projects
  • Excellent relational skills
  • A great eye for design, and putting rooms together
  • Passion for new trends, color, technology and home furnishings, and the ability to guide clients through the design process for their homes / businesses
  • Ability to relate to clients with Excitement, Integrity, and Creativity
  • Must enjoy working in fast-paced environment, with ability to help multiple clients simultaneously on busy days
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and staff
  • Completion of training requirements as necessary
  • Previous sales and design experience required, preferably in the home furnishings field
