Comprehensive Life Resources is looking for a qualified Parent Advocate to join our Youth Residential Treatment Facility in Tacoma, WA.

Function: Engage with families individually on a weekly basis via the method of contact most feasible for the family. Organize and facilitate parent support and training groups including Family Counts regularly (approximately bi-monthly). Participate in child and family team meetings; develop informal resources, train as needed, and complete required documentation. Ensure that family voice is included in the treatment process at PYR and facilitate open communication between families and PYR. Serves as a member of the organization that welcomes, engages and serves individuals with complex needs.
Responsibilities:
- Attend Child Family Team Meetings (CFTM’s).
- Attend staff meetings, consultations, and relevant trainings, as required.
- Provide direct assistance to parents/families and their Child and Family team. Provide ongoing support to staff as needed. Serve as a bridge between families and PYR team to promote communication and collaboration.
- Organize regular Family Counts activities to bring PYR families together, build skills, celebrate, and provide a source of support.
- Provide training to parents and staff regarding family driven services.
- Maintain records and generate reports as needed including but not limited to: treatment plan goals and monthly updates, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Collaborate with data administrator to conduct post admission and post discharge satisfaction surveys with families.
- Coordinate work with staff and collaborate with the team regarding treatment and discharge planning.
- Ensure that ethical and professional standards of practice are maintained.
- Assist in identifying potential barriers to engaging families, formal and informal systems in discharge planning, and work towards engagement of communities.
- Assist in identifying strategies to implement for parents and systems to be involved in a collaborative planning and support process.
- Participate in admission process, as appropriate, and review parent handbook and Parent Special Orientation Topics (“POST”) with families.
- Actively participate in CLIP Parent Steering Committee.
- Report any safety concerns promptly to the safety officer or program director.
- In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Be a parent of a child with special needs.
- Direct experience working/volunteering in the role of parent advocate.
- WA State Certified Peer Counselor Credential
- WA State DOH Agency Affiliated Credential
- Valid Washington State driver’s license; proof of insurance
