Job Description:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the completion of financial transactions into the corporate records on a monthly schedule and provides support in all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will assist in managing, developing, and maintaining core accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate transaction processing and timely monthly financial statements to include AR, AP, and accruals as well as other tax, audit and compliance matters.

Position Type:

This is a full-time, exempt position.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Manage and assist with daily operations including monitoring financial transactions and transaction processing as it relates to the following: Day to Day activity, Check Runs.
  • Cash Receipts, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Asset Activity, Cash Management and Debt Activity
  • Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions in a timely efficient manner.
  • Assist the VP of Accounting in overseeing the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearend financial statements.
  • Ability to stay current with new accounting pronouncements that affect our business activities.
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Supervises staff accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely consolidation of monthly, quarterly and year end close and financial statements, including reviewing the work of the staff to ensure all reporting is properly stated.
  • Ability to addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, cash management, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.
  • Support VP of Accounting with special projects and workflow process improvements. Most ad hoc projects will require the position to work independently to help drive initiatives.

Competencies and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with 7+ years of experience in the area.
  • CPA is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.
  • Proficiency with current financial software, NetSuite Preferred but not required.
  • Understanding of US GAAP.
  • Excellent managerial skills and ability to lead, coach and evaluate the work of others.
  • Strong presentation and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborator and self-starter who exercises discretion and independent judgement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to effectively build and manage relationships with cross-functional colleagues and business leaders.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and to strictly adhere to company policies for information disclosure.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet required deadlines.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In addition, this job will require an organized office space, including daily filing and destroying of documents.
