As a Senior Cost Accountant at [Company Name], you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate cost accounting and financial analysis to support our manufacturing operations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to analyze production costs, identify opportunities for cost optimization, and provide valuable insights to enhance profitability and operational efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Hybrid 2-3 days/week in Griffin, GA

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze production costs and variance analysis to ensure accuracy and integrity of cost accounting records.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reconcile inventory accounts to maintain accurate inventory valuation.
  • Prepare and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead, ensuring alignment with actual manufacturing costs.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities, including the preparation of cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory valuation reports.
  • Conduct regular audits of manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting support to management, including cost projections, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of cost accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in cost accounting, recommending process improvements and enhancements as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in cost accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
