SummaryThe Terminal Manager will supervise the operations of our trucking terminal/fleet. In this role, you will recruit and train new terminal employees, handle the schedule of current drivers, oversee the dispatch of vehicles, monitor and schedule vehicle maintenance, and ensure compliance with all DOT regulations. This efficient leader will work to retain quality staff and maintain smooth terminal operations. Prior experience in trucking, logistics, and warehousing is strongly preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Responsible for coaching and counsel drivers in such areas as safety, performance, productivity and morale. Supervise all activities of drivers.
  • Direct and schedule driver's work. Plan, assign, and distribute daily work, while coordinating loads, equipment and backhauls to achieve maximum utilization of the fleet.
  • Manage work assignments. Develop daily delivery plan utilizing equipment, manpower and other resources to ensure an effective, efficient operation. Work with the Transportation manager to organize, plan and implement transportation solutions for assigned customers that utilize the best cost option to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with customers, drivers, vendors and other Ruan locations
  • Perform administrative functions to include payroll, billing, driver counseling and post- accident reviews.
  • Participate in the review and analysis of operating performance.
  • Properly use transportation management systems to ensure all required operational data is accurately captured in a near real-time manner.
  • Monitor and promote safety and compliance with company policies and federal, state and local regulations in all areas of the operation.
  • Must have strong leadership skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, and mentor employees.
  • Oversee dock operations at the fleet terminal.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain terminal staff
  • Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers and dock workers
  • Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded
  • Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards
  • Ensure company operational model compliance
  • Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts as business levels increase
 Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, business management, or a similar field preferred
  • 5 years’+ experience in trucking, warehouse logistics or 3PL as Terminal Manager or similar
  • Management or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations
  • TMS proficiency
  • Valid driver's license (CDL a plus)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Organizational skills
