We are searching for Marketing Manager who will be a key player in developing content, managing social media platforms and designing and executing successful events that raise awareness, generate crucial funds to support United Way’s mission involves strategic planning, relationship building, and seamless execution of events that align with our mission and engage our diverse stakeholders, with a primary focus on maximizing fundraising opportunities to join our team in Hartford CT.

What You’ll Do:

Social Media:

  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing to develop the monthly organizational social media calendar.
  • Create content and schedule posts.
  • Track metrics and report back to marketing team on engagement and growth.
  • Stay up to date with trends and best practices related to social media engagement and implement strategies appropriately.
  • Develop and manage an influencer and champion social media program for United Way.

Content Generation:

  • Write copy for event scripts and PowerPoint presentations, social media captions, event related e-mails and other content as needed by the department.

Event Planning and Strategy:

  • Work with the Director of Marketing to develop and implement a strategic events plan designed to engage, educate, and inspire key stakeholders including current and prospective donors.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish event objectives, target audiences, and financial targets. Plan and execute various events, including United Way’s Centennial Gala (one-time), annual signature events, corporate special events, donor education and appreciation events, and nonprofit partner engagement initiatives.
  • Work with Community Impact and Engagement team to ensure programmatic initiatives are appropriately featured.
  • Support Director of Marketing in the creation of high-quality program content, including drafting event agendas, session descriptions, and speaker talking points.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to develop event communications for print, website and social media.
  • Manage event vendor relationships and consultant relationships.

Fundraising and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Create a third-party event guide and develop/manage relationships with possible strategic partners.
  • Collaborate with the development team to design and implement effective fundraising events, including maximizing sponsorship contributions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners to enhance fundraising opportunities.
  • Work with organizational leadership to develop unique and meaningful engagement opportunities for United Way supporters and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote events and fundraising initiatives effectively.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for event-related inquiries and donor communications.
  • Develop proof of performance packages and thank you strategies for event attendees and sponsors.

Logistics Management:

  • Oversee all aspects of event logistics, ensuring seamless coordination and execution.

About You:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business related field preferred

  • Experience in social media, event planning, and managing strategic partners preferred (United Way and/or corporate marketing campaigns)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, and customer relationship management (CRM) preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial, strategic thinker and solution oriented.
  • Inspirational, can do spirit leadership.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities, and able to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively and articulately in writing and orally.
  • Ability to keep their composure with the public and co-workers in everyday, stressful situations.
  • Strong customer focus in all tasks and activities, even while at times under pressure.
  • Solid relationship management skills enhancing internal organizational relations, external community interactions, and in business development opportunities.
  • Ability to perform job with integrity and values consistent with United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut.
  • Ability to relate well with people from diverse groups.
  • Holds self and other team members accountable for achieving results.
  • Driver’s license and valid transportation required.
