DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Under the direction of the Green Tech CEO/Principal, the Director of Finance provides direction, oversight and supervision of accounting, budgeting, and finances. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to work professionally and effectively with the Board Members, teachers, pupils, administrators, and the school community.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skill, analytical & problem-solving skill, organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Accounting, budgeting or financial experience in a school setting.
  • Acts as purchasing agent and is responsible for establishing procedures for the acquisition of supplies and equipment.
  • Manages state aid and all required NYSED filings.
  • Administers the District's insurance and risk management programs.
  • Prepares and reviews financial information related to contract negotiations
  • Collaborates with administrators, architects, attorneys and financial advisors in planning, contracting and constructing new facilities and/or capital improvement projects.
  • Performs all responsibilities in accordance with the policies of the Board of Education, the Board of Regents, Commissioner of Education all federal, state and local laws and the directives of the CEO/Principal.
  •   Knowledge of educational laws, regulations, and state/federal reporting

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, and/or Accounting
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Five years of experience in finance or in a leadership position
  • Prior experience working in a school and urban community is preferred but not required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A valid NYS Certification as a School District Business Leader
