WOW Baking Company produces amazingly delicious gluten-free products that are distributed in retail locations throughout the United States and Canada. Based in Sumner, WA, we are a dedicated gluten-free, SQF Certified facility that is looking to add a Quality Assurance Tech to our team of talented associates.

About the Role

The QA Tech provides strong leadership and direction to the plant in Food Safety, Product Quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices.  This position reports to the SQF Practitioner.

Primary Duties

Development and implementation of food safety, plant security for food safety, environmental and quality programs.

  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Coach and train employees on GMPs.
  • Enforce GMPs to maintain a quality product manufactured in a safe environment that meets all targeted requirements.
  • Maintain, and enforce company quality standards, including sanitation standards.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures (SOP's) are followed for all aspects of food processing, food safety, raw materials, finished food and customer specifications.
  • Perform routine testing and and quality checks per set schedule.
  • Manage all HOLDS and product/material disposition in compliance with Food Safety and Finance requirements.
  • Assess product quality and accept or reject from processing.
  • Perform sanitation inspection of production workstations prior to startup, changeover or shift relief and communicate deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Ensure plant operations staff delivers quality products within specification.
  • Other duties and projects as may be assigned.


Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years in quality assurance at a food manufacturing facility.
  • Current SQF Certification preferable
  • Knowledgeable of audit process for SQF and other required audits.
  • Bakery experience a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Intermediate experience level

Physical Demands

  • Work is performed in an environment that can be noisy and fluctuate in temperature.  
  • The ability to repetitively bend, reach, stand, walk and lift up to 45 pounds without difficulty.
  • WOW currently works Monday-Thursday, 10 hour shifts.
