Griswold Controls is a leading flow and temperature control valve manufacturer for the HVAC Industry. We are in Irvine, CA and have been in business since 1960.

We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector. Under minimal supervision primarily inspects incoming materials, products and components for compliance to applicable requirements and standards. Assists operations personnel with measurement, identification and troubleshooting at various stages of production. Also manages the distribution, recall and calibration of inspection tools and equipment facility.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 – $23.00 per hour

An excellent and comprehensive benefits package will be provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Assists during ISO 9001:2015 & Customer audits.

· Inspects incoming materials, in-process production and finished products by confirming product meets applicable drawings and specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; documenting and communicating required corrections.

· Performs visual examinations for cosmetic defects and to verify that the product matches the description.

· Verifies that purchased assemblies function as intended.

· Performs mechanical measurements to verify that each product meets the dimensional requirements set forth on the drawing(s).

· Verifies that all process and material requirements have been met and certified by the supplier.

◦ Includes Hardness Testing

· Document all inspection and test results both on paper (Inspection Reports, DMRs, etc.) and in the GC Inspection Data database.

· Requests direction when a measurement or a specification is unclear or questionable.

· Communicates defective products to the MRB committee for disposition.

· Communicates with the stockroom when products are acceptable and ready for warehousing.

· Follows inspection priorities.

General Quality Assurance:

· Maintains Q.C. Part Files including updating drawing revisions and inspection plans.

· Prepares inspection plans that will ensure that product quality is in accordance with the applicable requirements.

· Transacts parts and assemblies in and out of MRB using ERP system.

◦ Maintains control over the MRB area and its contents.

· Manages the inspection tool recall and calibration system.

· Maintains the Inspection Area including the tool cabinets.

· Inspects products from stock and/or WIP as necessary to address quality issues.

· Participates in the MRB process.

· Periodically assists in orienting, training and checking operations team members’ work.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

· Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret and explain documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Speak, read and write English fluently. The ability to speak Spanish would be helpful but is not a requirement.

· Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as basic algebra and geometry (calculating triangles, etc.), and Trigonometry would be beneficial.

· Reasoning Ability

Experience and ability to devise creative ways to measure difficult features. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

· Other Qualifications

Blueprint reading and interpretation. Proficient in the use of all standard measurement and inspection equipment such as: Micrometers, Calipers, plugs, rings etc; Hardness Tester, Spring Tester, Comparator, etc.; all other commercially available inspection equipment.

· Must have basic computer operating knowledge with Windows operating system; navigate a computer Network to locate and open files. Open, Create, Save and Edit documents in Microsoft Word. Open, Create, Save, Edit and setup calculations in spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel. Open, Create, Send Forward and Reply to emails in Microsoft Outlook. Open, Save and Input into Microsoft Access databases.

· Position requires use of all general power and hand tools. Must have good coordination and dexterity. Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English. Must possess outstanding organization and problem solving skills by gathering and analyzing information skillfully. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Solves practical problems and deals with situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Education & Experience

· High school or GED equivalent required.

· Experience measuring mechanical components with standard inspection equipment i.e. calipers micrometers, plug gauges, thread gauges etc.

· Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
