Position Overview:

The Quality Inspector II is responsible for examining, measuring, sorting, and sampling manufactured components to identify any deviations from established specifications, defects, or damages. This role requires the use of precision measuring tools and sophisticated measurement equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyze technical documentation, including engineering and source control drawings, to establish inspection protocols and select appropriate measuring instruments.
  • Measure and record product dimensions to ensure compliance with specifications, utilizing tools such as rulers, calipers, gauge pins, and micrometers.
  • Conduct inspections of materials and products to verify adherence to specifications, employing both visual and microscopic examination techniques.
  • Document and reject any products or materials that do not meet quality standards.
  • Communicate production issues to supervisors and collaborate on identifying and implementing corrective measures. Engage in discussions regarding inspection outcomes and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection results and update relevant sections of the ERP system.
  • Develop and revise inspection reports based on engineering specifications and drawings.
  • Acquire skills to operate advanced inspection machinery, including Optical Comparators, CMM, and Vision Inspection Systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC usage.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Mathematical skills adequate for determining sampling sizes and understanding dimensional tolerances.
  • Proficient in using basic hand measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Strong time management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Additional training in Quality Assurance or Inspection is preferred.
  • Certification as a Quality Inspector (CQI) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) is advantageous.

Work Environment:

This role involves exposure to airborne particles, moving mechanical components, and moderate noise levels.

Physical Requirements:

Regular attendance and punctuality are essential. The position may require prolonged sitting, occasional standing, bending, and repetitive hand movements. Candidates must be able to lift objects up to 30 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally with assistance. Adequate hand-eye coordination and dexterity are necessary for operating machinery and computer systems. Normal hearing and vision, including color vision, are required. The ability to navigate interpersonal dynamics and resolve conflicts positively is crucial.
