About CIS NOVA: At Communities In Schools of Northern Virginia (CIS NOVA), we partner with regional school systems to provide resources and create communities of caring adults to make sure young people have the tools they need to stay in school and achieve in life. We currently have partnerships with Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, and Prince William public schools and are expanding into Albemarle County Public schools in the 2024-2025 school year.

Reporting Structure: Reports to Director of Development

 

Role and Responsibilities:

 

Build CIS NOVA Voice and Brand

- Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance CIS NOVA program visibility, engage stakeholders, and attract new supporters.

- Ensure organization and staff compliance with branding standards and messaging.

- Design visually appealing graphics for print and digital platforms, ensuring brand consistency across e-newsletters, social media, website, and promotional materials including but not limited to infographics, brochures, and banners.

- Create engaging video content to increase branding awareness, attract new donors, and effectively communicate CIS NOVA's mission and impact.

- Develop new methods and approaches to sharing CIS data with the community to tell student and family stories.

 

Content Collection and Curation

- Organize, catalog, and maintain media archives and photo library.

- Create and maintain a comprehensive internal story bank.

- Curate content through on-site visits throughout the year, requiring flexibility in scheduling.

- Develop, distribute, and maintain all print and electronic collateral including but not limited to e-newsletters, brochures, website, social media, campaigns, appeals, annual reports, and press releases.

 

Network Engagement and Media Relations

- Expand local media coverage to advance awareness and image of CIS NOVA through featured stories, interviews, and coverage of programs, fundraising activities, and events.

- Engage with marketing and communications teams across the CIS network.

- Track and measure the level of engagement over time on all platforms.

- Support the implementation of all fundraising events.

- Manage and update various communication channels including but not limited to social media and website content to ensure consistent and impactful messaging.

- Participate in relevant professional development.

- Other duties as assigned.

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

- Demonstrates a deep passion for the mission of Communities In Schools, a commitment to racial equity, and competence in engaging gin diverse audiences

- At least 3 years of experience in marketing/communications with an understanding of the organizational elements of marketing, advertising, PR, media and digital media

- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Marketing, Communications or related field

- Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills adaptable to diverse audiences and platforms.

- A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently

- Proficient in Google Apps, Microsoft Office, and design tools like Canva

- Capable of both collaborative teamwork and independent work execution

- Ability to create annual and long-range planning tools and demonstrated flexibility in making changes to reflect dynamic work environment

- Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters

- Proximity to Arlington/Alexandria, VA preferred

 

Work Environment:

- Hybrid Office/Telecommute environment.

- Occasional travel to partner schools and community events required.

 

Compensation:

- This is a full-time position that includes benefits: medical, dental, vision, life.

- The annual salary range for this position is high $50,000s to low $60,000s
