Responsibilities

  • Review Loan Applications: Analyze submitted loan applications and supporting documents to determine eligibility, ensuring all necessary information is complete and accurate.
  • Assess Financial Risk: Evaluate the financial status of applicants by reviewing credit reports, employment history, income, and other relevant data to assess the risk of granting the loan.
  • Ensure Compliance: Verify that loan applications comply with regulatory and bank standards, maintaining adherence to all relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Communicate with Applicants: Provide clear and concise feedback to applicants regarding their loan status, necessary documentation, and next steps in the process.
  • Collaborate with Loan Officers: Work closely with loan officers to clarify loan application details and provide guidance on complex cases.
  • Decision Making: Make informed lending decisions within authorized limits and prepare detailed recommendations for higher-level reviews when necessary.
  • Document Management: Maintain organized and thorough records of all loan applications, decisions, and communications to ensure a clear audit trail.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in residential loan underwriting or a similar financial role.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Relevant certifications in loan underwriting or mortgage banking are preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in loan underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial documents and assess creditworthiness accurately.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with applicants and team members.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of loan review and documentation.
