Sr. SCADA Instrumentation Technician for a local public works company in

Essential Functions
• Test, troubleshoot, calibrate, program, design, and maintain electrical and electronic instruments.
• Work with devices like programmable logic controllers, PID controllers, motor controls, and variable frequency drives.
• Install, maintain, repair, and calibrate various electronic instruments (e.g., flow meters, pressure and temperature recorders, signal conversion modules).
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot SCADA communications equipment.
• Provide network and telecom support for SCADA.
• Perform preventive maintenance using current technology, including software-based diagnostics.
• Engage in predictive maintenance activities.
• Overhaul and repair wastewater treatment plant equipment, lift stations, and pump stations.
• Troubleshoot, install, maintain, and calibrate process and analytical instrumentation.
• Maintain computerized electrical drawings.
• Assist in developing and documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) aligned with the District Strategic Plan.
• Consult with vendors, contractors, and staff on new construction and equipment installations.
• Operate District vehicles as needed.
• Respond to emergency situations, including after-hours incidents.
• Enter and work in confined spaces.
• Participate in stand-by duties as required.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as needed.
• Design and program SCADA systems.
• Determine communication protocols for SCADA equipment.
• Research and evaluate new operational methods, techniques, and equipment.
• Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the district’s asset management program.
• Assist in preparing budgets, staff reports, and other periodic reports.
Education & Certification Requirements
• Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Licenses: Valid Class C California Driver’s License and a safe driving record required.
• Certification: CCST (Certified Control System Technician) desired.
Experience
- 4 years of journey-level experience in SCADA programming, design, installation, and maintenance.
- Associate's degree in electronics technology, mechanical engineering, or related field can substitute for up to 2 years of experience.
