Progress Rail Services is seeking a skilled Instrument Technician to join our team. As an Instrument Technician, you will be responsible for performing specialized mechanical and electrical build, test, and repair work on experimental or prototype products, components, new locomotives, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Interpret instrumentation requests, experimental test requests, and experimental test instructions
- Define and provide support for component, system, and locomotive tests
- Coordinate and support multiple test initiatives
- Knowledgeable of basic test instrumentation (multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, calibrators, and power supplies)
- Knowledge of the measurement of mechanical and electrical parameters
- Knowledge of analog and digital signal conditioning and filtering
- Knowledge of digital data acquisition and reduction systems
- Knowledge of transducer and instrumentation calibration and maintenance
- Assure effectiveness of test and data collection systems
- Design and fabricate unique cable assemblies, instrument, and mechanical fixturing solutions
- Identify and review software & hardware for test applications and support services
- Good oral and written communications skills
- High level of interpersonal and team skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Power Point, & Project
- Experience with test support in Engineering, Production, and Customer environments
- Able to adapt to a dynamic and variable work environment and customer base
- Experience with Yokogawa, DEWESoft, & test cell data acquisition software & control packages
- Experience with locomotive diesel engines, mechanical, and electrical control systems
- Experience with PLCs hardware and programming
