Job Summary:
An experienced, thoughtful, and business-savvy HR partner is needed to support an iconic production located in Manhattan, NYC. The HR Generalist (HRG), in collaboration with the VP of HR, will handle all aspects of human resources including benefits, compensation, leave management, employee relations, organizational development, and compliance. Emphasis is placed on change management, performance management, disciplinary actions, and staffing analysis.
The ideal candidate will be a transparent and creative leader who values diversity and inclusion. They should be skilled in presenting ideas and inspiring others to find solutions, with a passion for improving workflows and navigating through ambiguity in a collaborative environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a trusted advisor and resource to cast, crew, and production leadership.
Communicate and support the company’s culture, mission, and vision to align employees with business goals.
Conduct complex investigations and manage employee relations issues, including recommending and implementing corrective actions.
Analyze HR practices, identify improvement opportunities, build consensus, and implement changes to achieve company goals.
Make recommendations and influence HR decisions regarding onboarding, headcount management, training, performance management, employee relations, compensation, and leave management.
Manage New Hire Orientation and onboarding programs to ensure a smooth and welcoming process.
Provide strategic and day-to-day HR support for up to 150 employees.
Counsel employees on employment issues, leaves (PFL/FMLA), career coaching, and disciplinary matters.
Use analytics to review trends and assist with staffing and career development decisions.
Run and distribute monthly and Ad Hoc reports for production leadership.
Skills/Qualifications (Required):
Five or more years of experience in Human Resources.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong leadership, relationship building, and problem-solving skills.
Hands-on manager with a genuine interest in people and processes.
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong organizational development and employee relations experience.
Ability to balance employee advocacy with business objectives.
Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
Knowledge of state, federal, and local employment laws.
Understanding of Benefits and Leave Administration.
Skills/Qualifications (Desired):
Group presentation skills and experience with written proposals.
Experience working with labor organizations or union environments.
Basic knowledge of the production environment.
Experience with HR Information Systems.
Education:
Four-year college degree or equivalent experience in HR, Organizational Development, or Communications is desired.
