Summary/Objective: An Administrator, Database is responsible for managing performance, integrity, and security of computer databases; and codes, tests and implements physical databases within the Voting Tabulation, Voting Registration and Pollbook segments to meet customer requirements. The DBA makes sure databases have the qualities of data remaining consistent across databases, data is clearly defined, users can access data concurrently in a form aligned with needs and provides for data security and recovery. This position works to coordinate database development as part of a cross functional project team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies database requirements by interviewing stakeholders, analyzing product applications, programming, and operations, evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems.
  • Recommends solutions by diagnosing and defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, and implementing database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications.
  • Installs revised or new systems by proposing specifications and flowcharts; recommending optimum access techniques; and coordinating installation requirements.
  • Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.

Qualifications:

Education: bachelor’s degree in computer technology field preferred.


  • Experience: At least 6 years experience including:
  • Experience with Oracle
  • Experience with SQL, PL*SQL, SQL* Plus
  • Experience with MSSQL versions 2016, 2019
  • SQL tuning
  • Experience supporting transactional databases
  • SQL Server Availability Groups
