Sales Estimator

Overview

Sales Estimators are trained to communicate the value of various types of insulation. The estimator should be able to ask questions to determine the customer’s needs and budget and recommend the best solution for them. This position will receive education in the various types of insulation and air sealing services offered by Koala Insulation. The individual in this position will know the pros and cons of each and in what customer situations a given type is the best fit.

The Sales Estimator position combines a consultant role with sales skills; the specialist will work with customers to schedule insulation services at a reasonable price point while supporting company goals. The person in this position will handle everything from lead acquisition to the point of customers signing the service agreement.

In evaluating the property and how the customer might benefit from company services, the Sales Estimator will apply their knowledge of company services to establish action items that must be completed (for example, the need to update or isolate an open-combustion appliance within the building envelope for before spray foam insulation takes place). The estimator will record each required step and share information as needed with the customer and/or field installers if a service is scheduled.

In addition to communicating action items, the Sales Estimator must apply knowledge of building science in explaining the value of energy-saving products/services and manage customer expectations in terms of financial cost and coordination.

Day-to-Day Activities

The Sales Estimator will travel to potential customers’ residential, commercial, and industrial buildings—spending a period of time in unconditioned areas, such as an attic or crawlspace—to evaluate each customer’s needs. The ideal candidate must be comfortable in tight spaces and be able to maneuver carefully while maintaining their balance. As the Sales Estimator is the first face-to-face contact for many customers, the position requires someone with a professional appearance and demeanor.
