Job DescriptionJob Description

Clinical Responsibilities: (Training will be provided)

- Obtain and record patient medical history, vital signs, and other relevant information.

- Prepare patients for medical examinations, injections and phlebotomy procedures.

- Perform venipuncture to collect blood for certain procedures.

- Assist healthcare providers with medical procedures, examinations, and treatments.

- Order non-controlled medications through EHR (electronic health record)

- Perform intramuscular injections as directed by healthcare providers.

- Perform basic laboratory tests and procedures, including point-of-care urine toxicology testing.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and phlebotomy stations.

- Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control measures, and regulatory guidelines.

- Fit patients for DME (durable medical equipment, i.e. neck/back/knee braces)

- Conduct nerve conduction study

- And other clinical tasks within reason

Administrative Responsibilities: (Training will be provided)

- Conduct chart preparation for clinic days

- Conduct inventory checks and communicate inventory needs

- Prepare medical records to be sent to requesting entity

- Schedule patient appointments

- Update patient chart with with incoming records from other facilities or attorney offices

- Answer phone calls when seated at your desk. Phone calls may be from patients, other healthcare facilities, or attorney’s offices.

- Leave detailed notes about attempted patient communication in patient charts

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Certified Medical Assistant (Required)

- Medical Assistant: 1-2 years (Required)

- Phlebotomy experience (Required)

- Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross is preferred but not required

- Proficiency in medical terminology and basic clinical procedures

- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and specimen handling

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Must be proficient on the phones with very good verbal communication skills

- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a dynamic environment

- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patient.

- Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems is preferred

- Fluent in both English and Spanish, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages

- Knowledge of all state and federal regulations pertaining to confidentiality as per HIPAA, treatment, and safety guidelines
