Position: Financial Advisor

 

Job Type: Full-time – 40 hours/week

Pay:          $80,000/year

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (non-remote)

Benefits Include: Health insurance, Life insurance, 401(K).

 

Qualifications

Job Summary: The applicant will collaborate directly with the Regional Director of the Cincinnati Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC) and the Minority Business Development Division’s Business Development and Entrepreneurship Manager and/or other members of the Division to assist supporting entrepreneurs. The Financial Advisor is responsible for providing direct, in-depth financial counseling to business owners. This role requires a deep understanding of business operations, financial statements (balance sheet, cashflow, and income statements), working capital, financial ratios, financial markets, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will understand the financial nuances of small business ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Client Consultation and Relationship Management:

Ø  Engage with business owners to understand their unique financial needs, goals, and challenges.

Ø  Assist clients in understanding and preparing financial statements.

Ø  Build and maintain long-term relationships, serving as a trusted advisor for both business and financial matters.

Ø  Collaborate with clients to access financial products through the State of Ohio, banks, and local Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs).

Ø  Conduct regular reviews of clients' financial status and provide ongoing advice and support.

  1. Business Financial Planning:

Ø  Develop comprehensive financial strategies that address business financial goals.

Ø  Offer advice on cash flow management, capital structure, and investment strategies for business growth.

  1. Risk Management and Insurance:

Ø  Evaluate risks associated with clients' businesses and recommend appropriate risk management strategies.

  1. Tax Planning:

Ø  Coordinate and refer to tax professionals and attorneys to ensure comprehensive planning.

5.       Trainings

Ø  Participate in the Ohio Department of Development training sessions for business advisors to facilitate on-going knowledge and ability to provide in-depth consulting on State financial services and procedures.

Ø  Conduct a minimum of six financial training workshops/webinars per quarter.

Ø  Conduct a minimum of six outreach events per quarter with strategic partners.

Ø  Plan and market seminars, training sessions, and or conferences.

Ø  Community involvement including public speaking as needed or directed.

Ø  Participating in one day training events in collaboration with strategic partners (lunch & learns).

Ø  Assisting in efforts to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of training events.

Ø  Provide innovative strategies to increase the financial acumen of business clients.

 

Assets Over Liabilities Financial Literacy Training Cohort - Responsibilities

Ø  Provide Instruction and facilitation for the Cincinnati MBAC Assets Over Liabilities Financial Literacy 4-month training cohort.

Ø  Read and utilize course books: Financial Intelligence for Entrepreneurs and Profit First

Ø  Ability to teach and breakdown complex subjects.

Ø  Preparing slide-deck/visual presentations using simple and basic terminology for understanding.

Ø  Assist cohort participants with preparing a 3-year financial growth plan and final class presentations for the pitch competition.

Ø  Review participant’s assignments and provide guidance.

Ø  Obtain judges and sponsorships for pitch competition.

Ø  Scheduling guest speakers for AOL cohort.

Ø  Work with the MBAC Regional Director in the planning, recruiting, and execution of the Assets Over Liabilities cohort.

Ø  Establish meeting time for one-on-ones with cohort participants.

Ø  Create and implement innovative and creative strategies to enhance the cohort.

 

Educational Requirements:

 

Ø  Preferred candidate: MBA in Accounting/Finance or a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, and/or possess a minimum of five years of experience.

Ø  Graduate of a regionally accredited four-year college or university.

Ø  An equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be acceptable.

Additional requirements include:

Ø  An initiative-taker and the ability to work independently and strategically in a challenging environment.

Ø  Excellent time management and work focused.

Ø  Strong analytical abilities.

Ø  Results oriented with the ability to work in a changing environment.

Ø  Solid understanding of financial products offered through the Ohio Department of Development Minority Business Development Division.

Ø  Ability to build and maintain relationships within the financial industry sector to help clients access funding.

Ø  Ability to breakdown complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner for ease of understanding for clients.

Ø  Bi-lingual with Spanish as a second language a plus but not required.

Ø  Receive CBA® (Certified Business Advisor) Certification within six (6) months of hire date.

Ø  Participate in professional development training.

Ø  May require weekend work for outreach events and trainings.

Ø  Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License and the ability to travel.
