The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy machinery used in construction, mining, and other industrial activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with a variety of heavy equipment, strong problem-solving skills, and a dedication to safety and quality.

Duties:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to assess machinery performance.
  • Collaborate with operators and other team members to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Provide training and support to junior mechanics and equipment operators.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in heavy equipment technology.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; technical degree or certification in heavy equipment mechanics preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
