Position Overview

Key Responsibilities for a Heavy Equipment Lubrication Specialist

This role builds upon the foundational skills of a Lube Technician I.

Preventative Maintenance and Service Execution

  • Conducts all lubrication, filtration, and fluid exchange tasks proficiently and independently, adhering to established protocols and timelines.
  • Available for swing shifts, nights, and weekends to ensure timely maintenance of equipment, thereby reducing operational downtime.

Mechanical Proficiency and Inspections

  • Performs comprehensive inspections of machinery, pinpointing potential mechanical issues and areas needing maintenance or repair.
  • Demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude with the capability to identify and rectify minor equipment malfunctions.
  • Executes minor repairs to resolve identified mechanical concerns, ensuring optimal equipment performance.
  • Maintains a personal toolkit adequate for executing job responsibilities.

Additional Duties

  • May troubleshoot and address basic operational challenges with equipment.
  • Maintains precise records of maintenance activities, parts replaced, and equipment status.
  • Reports significant mechanical problems or repairs outside their expertise to a supervisor or mechanic.
  • May assist mechanics with more complex repair tasks as directed.
  • Stays informed on lubrication techniques, safety standards, and specifications for new equipment.
  • Possesses the ability to order machine filters and cross-reference them to ensure proper installation.

Compared to a Lube Technician I, a Heavy Equipment Lubrication Specialist exhibits a greater level of mechanical knowledge and the capability to conduct independent inspections and minor repairs. This role is vital in maintaining the seamless operation of equipment by identifying and addressing minor issues.

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Comprehensive knowledge of lubrication systems and procedures for heavy machinery, particularly in rock crushing operations.
    • Ability to perform fluid and filter exchanges accurately and efficiently across various equipment components.
    • Strong understanding of different lubricants, coolants, and hydraulic fluids, along with their appropriate applications.
  • Mechanical Skills:
    • Proven capability to diagnose mechanical problems and execute minor repairs on heavy machinery.
    • In-depth familiarity with heavy equipment components and systems.
    • Skilled in utilizing hand and power tools for maintenance and repair tasks.
