As a Film Acquisitions Assistant, you won’t just be supporting our head of acquisitions—you’ll be an integral part of the engine that drives our success. This role offers you a front-row seat to the inner workings of the film industry, providing invaluable experience and connections that can catapult your career to new heights. Key Responsibilities:
Market Research: Assist in researching and tracking upcoming films, trends, and market opportunities in the global film industry.
Screening & Evaluation: Review and analyze potential acquisitions, including screeners, scripts, and proposals, to assess their commercial viability and alignment with Octane Multimedia's distribution strategy.
Industry Networking: Build and maintain relationships with filmmakers, agents, producers, and other industry stakeholders to stay informed about new and upcoming projects.
Database Management: Maintain and update the acquisitions CRM with detailed information on films, contacts, and deal progress.
Festival Coordination: Assist in the coordination of film festival and market attendance, including scheduling meetings, arranging travel, and preparing materials for the acquisitions team.
Contract Assistance: Support the acquisitions team in drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts related to film acquisitions.
Administrative Tasks: Provide general administrative support to the acquisitions team, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and organizing files.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Film Industry Knowledge: A solid understanding of the film industry, from production to distribution, and a keen interest in market trends and emerging talents.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to critically evaluate films and market data, providing insightful recommendations.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to build relationships and effectively network.
Attention to Detail: High level of organization with a focus on accuracy in documentation and data management.
Tech Savvy: Proficiency in IMDB, standard software, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Passion for Film: A genuine love and strong knowledge for filmmakers, actors and cinema and a desire to contribute to the success of compelling and diverse films.
Knowledge of film festivals and markets, such as Cannes, Sundance, and TIFF.
Experience or internships in film acquisitions, distribution, or a related area is preferred but not required.
