Job DescriptionJob Description

We are looking for Child Care Director with at least 5 years of Directing experience.  We are NAEYC accredited serving the employees of the Minneapolis VA Medical Center and the surrounding neighborhood. Our primary goal is that each child achieves and maintains a positive self-image. We are dedicated to aiding the development of the "whole" child physically, mentally, socially, culturally and intellectually.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the center, including scheduling and supervision of staff and maintaining appropriate classroom staff ratios
  • Participate in the hiring, orientation, training and evaluation of program staff
  • Keep all appropriate records such as children’s records, attendance, medication administration, and anecdotal notes
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in accordance with the company health and safety policies
  • Maintain Accreditation through NAEYC
  • Keep center staffed including recruiting, advertising, interviewing
  • Conduct parent tours, enrollment and parent orientations
  • Maintain daily open communication with parents and staff
  • Promote opportunities for parent outreach and other events representing our center
  • See opportunities for quality improvement initiatives, professional development and other resources to raise the standard of quality beyond licensing standards
  • Conduct orientation for new employees and keep employee records current
  • Function as a teacher during times when staff coverage is insufficient
  • Prepare budget and manage center within it. 
  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Responsible for accounts receivable and payable.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Center Director
  • Passion for working with young children
  • Can satisfy the Applicant Background Study required by state and federal regulations
  • Has the physical abilities to perform the required job duties with or without accommodation
  • Has documentation of US citizenship or eligibility to work in the US
  • Must be organized, detail orientated, self-motivated, reliable, and able to lead in a fast-paced, highly professional environment
  • Candidate must meet the Program Administrator qualifications for NAEYC accreditation
  • Candidates must have knowledge of MN Rule 3, childcare assistance, NAEYC and curriculum
  • Candidates should be confident in their skills as a trainer and coach. This position requires strong communication skills and someone who is comfortable in a leadership role
  • Applicants should have a warm, friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, can relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill job responsibilities in accordance with the program philosophy
