Our client is looking for a Quality Manager in Providence RI 02916

Duration: 8–10-month contract
Hours: M-F 8am-5pm

Job Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the maintenance & upgrade of IEP’s Quality Management System (TS 16949). 
  • Serve as IEP’s Quality Management Representative.
  • Participate in daily production meetings as required.
  • Conduct departmental meetings as required.
  • Evaluate and determine appropriate staffing levels for the Quality Dept.
  • Manage departmental overtime in accordance with business needs and production requirements.
  • Manage the Quality Dept. (Quality Engineers, Technicians, Inspection Team Leader, & Inspectors) including prioritization and coordination of daily activities.
  • Prepare performance appraisals for new & existing staff, review with HR.  Once approved, review performance appraisal with employee.
  • Conduct and/or direct the training of personnel within Quality and document training using IEP’s training roster which is turned into HR upon completion.
  • Responsible for identifying employee performance related matters, generating corrective action plan for review / approval with HR (and V.P. of Mfg. Operations, if required).  
  • Ensure employees follow Company policies and procedures as defined in the IEP Employee Manual.  Address violations with appropriate corrective action to be reviewed / approved by HR (and V.P. of Mfg. Operations, if required).
  • Monitor dept. staff’s compliance to safety and housekeeping, correcting deficiencies when possible and/or notifying the appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Provide technical guidance to the Quality Dept., Manufacturing Operations, & other depts. as required.
  • Manage the evaluation, determination and delivery of the Quality Management System training to company personnel.
  • Develop, implement, and track key quality metrics.
  • Where key quality metrics are not being met, investigate, identify root cause, and establish corrective actions that will ensure future success.
  • Refine and enhance processes by applying Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma Continuous Improvement principles and techniques.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers (internal & external).
  • Manage CAPA, Continuous Improvement, Internal & External Audit, & MRB programs.
  • Conduct Management Reviews in accordance with TS requirements. 
  • Follow Company policies and procedures as defined in the IEP Employee Manual.
  • Follow all International Standards that apply to IEP’s certification and QMS.
  • Follow Company Safety rules and wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Maintain regular and satisfactory attendance.
  • Perform duties outside of normal work hours as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education /Skills /Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical).
  • Must read, write and communicate in English as it relates to this position and safety.
  • 7 to 10 years of Quality Management / Engineering experience, preferably in support of Automotive Industry.  Prefer experience with Stamping, Plating, Molding, or Skiving Mfg. Operations.
  • Prefer the following ASQ Certifications; CQM, CQE, & CQA.
  • Prefer Six Sigma Green / Black Belt.
  • Direct hands-on experience maintaining or upgrading a Quality Management Standard such as ISO 9001:2008 or TS 16949.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, CAPA, DOE, & GD & T.
  • Knowledge of various measuring equipment including OGP & X-Ray machines.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • Effective organization, prioritization, time management, project management, motivation, & teambuilding skills.
  • Self-starter with a strong drive for Continuous Improvement. 
  • Ability to read advanced blueprints & schematics.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
  • AutoCAD or SolidWorks skills preferred.
