Full job description:
The HR Specialist is responsible for assisting in administering the company's employee benefits, key Human Resources programs, including some recognition programs, and for providing general administrative support to the Human Resources function and Human Resources leadership team. The HR Specialist is also responsible for providing comprehensive support in various HR functions including general HR support functions including but not limited to company job descriptions, salary compliance, HR reporting and system support. This role requires a deep understanding of HR policies and procedures and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

1. Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Resources, preferred, not required
  • College level coursework in HR, current national certification in HR (PHR/SPHR) strongly preferred

2. Experience/Duties:

  • Two years’ experience in an HR position
  • Advise on whether jobs are correctly classified as exempt or nonexempt
  • Verify that state tax registrations and filings are correct and up-to-date
  • Develop and update HR policies to ensure they follow current laws and regulations
  • Help create recruitment strategies, manage the hiring process, and set up onboarding programs
  • Create systems for performance appraisals and employee development
  • Offer support with employee issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters
  • Provide research on competitive pay and benefits to attract and keep employees

3. Skills:

  • Excellent research and analysis, budgeting, organizational, oral, and written communication skills required
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of, and appropriate application of, the following: Federal and State law and regulations regarding employment, discrimination, wage and hour, benefits administration, Compliance Agency enforcement and administration, dispute resolution techniques, etc.
  • Requires a high level of comfort with taking initiative and being accountable for teamwork and service excellence

4. Interpersonal Skills:
