Role Purpose: 

The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and subcontractors involved in macro cell construction and equipment installation. This role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing safety protocols and programs, conducting regular safety audits, managing crew onboarding, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry regulations. The Safety Manager will also conduct trainings, maintain safety records, and actively participate in the construction process to propose safe and compliant construction solutions. 

Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Ensure a safe working environment for all employees and subcontractors involved in macro cell construction and equipment installation. 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the field teams during the construction process to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. 

  • Investigate incidents and accidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. 

  • Manage crew member onboarding, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry regulations, including obtaining and maintaining necessary certificates and permits. 

  • Develop and conduct safety training programs for crew members, subcontractors and employees to build their skills and promote safety awareness and compliance. 

  • Maintain detailed and accurate safety records, including audit reports, inspection logs, training records, and incident reports. 

  • Conduct regular safety meetings to discuss safety issues, review incident reports, and promote a culture of safety. 

  • Attend safety conferences to stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes. 

  • Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes, and update safety programs accordingly. 

  • Ensure safety compliance at the office and warehouse, including the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment. 

  • Ensure safety and customer compliance at construction sites, addressing any safety concerns promptly and effectively. 

  • Continuously develop and enhance safety knowledge and skills through ongoing education and professional development. 

  • Collaborate with project managers, crew leaders and site supervisors to integrate safety measures into project planning and execution. 

  • Collaborate with the construction team to ensure safe construction processes and propose potential solutions to enhance safety and compliance.

  • Ensure all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are available, properly maintained and inspected, and used correctly. 

  • Foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement. 

  • Take an active role in preparing for safety audits conducted by customer inspectors and third parties 

  • Ensure that warehouse equipment and the company’s fleet are up to safety standards and well-maintained. 

  • Work with safety teams on the customer end to arrange safety meetings, obtain safety requirements, and ensure that  is compliant with those requirements. 

  • Ensure compliant in the Avetta system and other required platforms. 

  • Liaise with safety regulatory agencies such as Safety LMS, OSHA, Red Cross, etc. 

  • Track the validity and expiration dates for all regulatory paperwork, crew certificates, and equipment, including drones. 

  • Develop and manage rigging plans, safety protocols, and construction plans for upcoming projects, ensuring all are compliant with industry standards and regulations. 

  • This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with exceptional leadership, team work and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the telecom industry, and field experience. 

Required Skills and Competencies: 

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards. 

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs in a construction environment.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and develop effective corrective actions. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels. 

  • Ability to effectively resolve safety-related issues both internally and externally through strong negotiation skills. 

  • Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. 

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities. 

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various job sites. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Education Level: Associate degree in safety, health, environmental, or a closely related field is required; 
  • Bachelor is preferred, including from outside of the USA 
  • Professional Certifications: OSHA 30 Construction Industry 
  • NWSA TTT1/TTT2 

Years of Experience: 

  • At least four (4) years of professional safety experience where safety is at least 50% preventative, professional level, with breadth and depth of safety duties. 
  • 6+ years of combined field and office experience, with at least 2 year in the field and 4+ years in office. 

Preferable Certifications: 

  • CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) Certification
  • Safety Manager candidate profile 4 
  • GSP (Graduate Safety Practitioner) Certification 
  • ASP (Associate Safety Professional) Certification 
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) Certification 
  • OSHA 510 
  • Climber/Rescuer Trainer 
  • Rigging Trainer
