Hands-On Warehouse Manager – Queens, NYC

 

A small, highly-respected company of luxury fabrics, carpeting, trimmings, furniture, lighting and accessories is seeking a full-time, “roll up your sleeves,” hands-on warehouse manager to oversee small staff and operations of our 10000 sq ft fulfillment center. Must be able to multitask and think “outside of the box” to troubleshoot and solve issues as they arise.

 

Responsibilities:

·        Oversee and manage 5 full and par-time employees

·        Training and managing warehouse team to increase and maintain efficiency

·        Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures, while complying with legal regulations.

·        Manage the receiving, handling, storing, picking and packing activities of the warehouse, ensuring that standards are met, if not exceeded.

·        Prepare product for shipment and maintain logs.

-         Receiving, checking for damage and confirming contents, before shipping.

·        Regularly inspect machinery and oversee general maintenance, when necessary.

 

Required skills and qualifications:

·        English, basic Spanish

·        Good Communication and math skills

·        Ability to work well and coordinate within a team-building structure

·        General grasp of Excel and Word

·        Ability to regularly lift and/or move bolts of fabric

-         Up to 40 pound, alone, and up to 80 pound with assistance.

·        Highschool diploma or equivalent

 

The ideal Candidate should possess the following:

·        Understand a pick-and-pack style operation.

·        Minimum of two years’ experience as a manager.

·        Experience with Fed-Ex, UPS and USPS shipping programs.
