Job Summary:
The Purchasing Specialist / Logistics Team Lead is responsible for overseeing procurement and logistics operations. This role involves managing supplier relationships, sourcing new suppliers, negotiating contracts, ensuring timely delivery of products and services, and maintaining cost-effective purchasing practices. The role also includes supervising shipping and receiving functions, working cross-functionally to monitor and forecast inventory needs, and ensuring the procurement process aligns with the company’s goals.


Job Responsibilities:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Shipping/Receiving Clerk.

Procurement and Supplier Management:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company objectives.
  • Identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Monitor and report key functional metrics associated with supplier performance.
  • Resolve issues related to delivery, quality, or cost.

Contract Negotiation:

  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure advantageous terms.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies.

Cost Management:

  • Monitor market trends and assess the impact on product costs.
  • Perform cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Implement measures to reduce expenses.

Inventory Management:

  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
  • Collaborate with sales and production teams to manage stock levels and ensure timely replenishment.
  • Implement inventory control systems to minimize waste and optimize stock turnover.
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with sales, production, logistics, and finance teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Provide purchasing insights and support for new product development and special projects.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and cost savings.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in procurement and negotiation.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven working experience in a supervisory role in procurement and logistics.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
  • Proficient in procurement software, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to gather, analyze data, and work with figures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid judgment and decision-making skills.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional).
  • Experience in the promotional products industry.
