Your role as a Maintenance Purchasing Specialist 1
As a Full Time Maintenance Purchasing Specialist 1 at Wasatch Behavioral Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of our Support Services Division. Your key responsibilities will include handling a variety of administrative and clerical tasks, facilitating communication regarding maintenance work orders, and liaising with staff, suppliers, and agencies on purchasing and vehicle-related matters. You will monitor and update work order files, manage office supply purchases, and administer the purchasing card program, ensuring all transactions are tax-exempt and accurately tracked. By assisting with vehicle accident reports and preparing work order reports for management, you'll contribute significantly to the safety and efficiency of our operations. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will ensure that our facilities run smoothly and effectively, making you an integral part of our dedicated team in Provo, Utah.

To excel as a Full Time Maintenance Purchasing Specialist 1 at Wasatch Behavioral Health, a blend of technical skills and soft skills is essential. Candidates must possess a working knowledge of general office maintenance, filing systems, and recording procedures, along with proficiency in word processing and basic accounting principles. Effective communication is key, both verbal and written, ensuring clear interactions with staff and vendors.
Strong typing skills (50 WPM and 10 key efficiency of 125 to 175) are necessary for accurate documentation. The ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining confidentiality is crucial. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel, along with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record, are required.
The ideal candidate will have two years of clerical or purchasing experience, alongside a high school diploma or equivalent training in computer operation and data entry, fostering strong relationships with colleagues and the public alike.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
Working knowledge of general office maintenance and practices; filing systems (alpha and numeric Profiler), recording and filing procedures and methodologies; letter composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation; operation of word processor terminal; operation of standard office equipment; basic mathematics; basic accounting or bookkeeping; telephone and interpersonal communication etiquette; basic public relations. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; work independently in meeting various time deadlines and work pressures; perform basic mathematical calculations; maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive administrative information; operate personal computer (DOS) in utilizing various programs (Word, Excel, Windows, GroupWise, etc.) to produce or compose formal documents reports and records; operate standard office equipment; develop effective working relationships with supervisors' fellow employees and the public.
Typing skills essential (typing of 50 WPM net and 10 key of 125 to 175 as required by the hiring department.
Must possess a valid driver's license and have a driving record acceptable to the Center's Insurance carrier.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 1. Education and Experience:
- A. High school diploma or GED; plus one (1) year of specialized training in computer operation and data entry;
- AND
- B. Two (2) years of responsible clerical and secretarial
- or purchasing experience;
- OR
- C. An equivalent combination of education and experience
Employment at Wasatch Behavioral Health is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, motor vehicle record review and criminal background check. After hire you must complete and receive a Criminal Background Clearance (BCI) from Utah State Office of Licensing. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment in the position, you must provide an official copy of licensure or certification.
