Please note that Knead Tech is headquartered in Canada; however, this role requires in-person presence in the Phoenix area. Applicants must possess the necessary documentation to work as a 1099 independent contractor in the United States.

About Us:

Kitchen on the Street and Knead Technologies are spearheading an innovative pilot project aimed at revolutionizing food waste management in Phoenix. Our mission is to create a sustainable, circular food system by rescuing surplus edible food and compostable waste, ensuring it reaches those in need while reducing landfill waste.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and organized Volunteer Coordinator to oversee the successful implementation of our circular food system pilot in the City of Phoenix. This position is ideal for someone passionate about sustainability and experienced in project management, volunteer management, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Implementation: Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of project activities to ensure they align with organizational goals and timelines.
  • Milestone Management: Ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget, addressing any issues that arise.
  • Community Outreach: Conduct outreach to local farms, businesses, community organizations, and residents to build strong community relationships.
  • Stakeholder Management: Foster and maintain relationships with project stakeholders, including food generators, recovery agencies, and volunteers.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and coordinate a network of volunteer delivery drivers, ensuring they are well-equipped and motivated.
  • Training and Education: Organize and conduct training sessions for stakeholders on food waste management and the Knead platform, and develop educational materials and outreach campaigns.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Work with data analysts to track project metrics, gather feedback from participants, analyze data to assess project impact, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Reporting and Presentation: Prepare regular progress reports and contribute to a comprehensive final project report. Present findings and outcomes to stakeholders and decision-makers.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2-3 years of professional experience in project management, volunteer coordination, or community engagement, with a focus on sustainability preferred.
  • Volunteer Management: Demonstrated experience in managing volunteers effectively.
  • Networking: Access to a well-established network within the City of Phoenix is a strong asset.

  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in learning and using software.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
