POSITION SUMMARY

The Institutional Giving Manager is a member of the College Success Foundation - District of Columbia's (CSF-DC's) Development team and is responsible for identifying, securing and enhancing sources of organization funding to further CSF-DCs organizational priorities, programs and initiatives. The Institutional Giving Manager is responsible for researching and identifying grant opportunities required to meet CSF-DC's program and revenue goals and developing and implementing processes to ensure alignment with CSF-DC's priorities. The Institutional Giving Manager leads cross-functional teams in developing and reviewing proposals, and prepares all materials and data required to submit accurate and compelling requests for funding and convey progress towards grant deliverables. The Institutional Giving Manager cultivates and manages positive relationships with grantors.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of institutional funders including private foundations, public agencies, corporate funders and community organizations in order to meet specific annual goals to support the organization's programs and initiatives.
  • Personally research, cultivate, solicit and steward institutional donors and prospects.
  • Build and expand relationships with institutions supporting CSF-DC's mission. Includes acting as external-facing liaison between funders and College Success Foundation - DC senior leadership as needed to secure and steward gifts.
  • Create and implement engagement and stewardship plans. Includes conducting personal visits with institutional representatives and facilitating personal visits between CSF-DC leadership and institutional representatives.
  • Lead all aspects of the proposal development process including project-managing cross-functional teams to generate required information and materials.
  • Identify and present major funding and program expansion opportunities to organizational leadership. Direct the decision-making process for executive and senior leadership regarding strategic pursuit of major funding opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a resource library of written content and supporting information and materials for grant applications to ensure consistent external messaging by all members of the development team.
  • Develop, review and edit grant-specific budgets to ensure alignment with grant proposals, and promote success with funding opportunities.
  • Manage the completion and submission of timely and accurate progress reports when required by a grant-making organization.
  • Track grant proposals in donor's database and prepare monthly reports on status of portfolios and submissions.
  • Maintain national, state, and local government registrations to ensure eligibility to apply for funding from government sources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum 7 years of organizational leadership in seeking grant funding, including proposal development.
  • Five years of other fundraising or nonprofit development experience.
  • Proven track record of success in managing a 7-figure grant portfolio.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position will be considered.
