Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Bookkeeper to manage the financial transactions and records for our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and bookkeeping, with a specific focus on the construction industry. This role requires a proactive individual who can maintain accurate financial records, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Remote on Fridays

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update financial records for all construction projects, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Prepare and process invoices, purchase orders, and payments for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and project budgets on a regular basis.
  • Manage and monitor job costing, ensuring that all costs are accurately allocated to the appropriate projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, including the preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other team members to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Handle payroll processing, including timesheet collection, payroll tax filings, and employee benefit administration.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (preferred)
  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, with at least 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, job costing, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts, lien waivers, and AIA billing is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills.
