Job Summary:

The Assistant Program Director is responsible for supporting the Program Director in the planning, implementation, and management of social service programs. This role involves overseeing daily operations, supervising staff, ensuring program quality, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance service delivery. The Assistant Program Director will play a key role in achieving program goals, monitoring outcomes, and maintaining compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Management:

    • Assist the Program Director in the development and implementation of program policies, procedures, and goals.
    • Oversee daily operations to ensure programs run smoothly and efficiently.
    • Monitor program activities and make adjustments as necessary to improve service delivery.
  2. Staff Supervision and Development:

    • Supervise and support program staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new staff members.
  3. Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure programs meet all quality standards and comply with funding and regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct regular program evaluations and audits to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
    • Develop and implement corrective action plans as needed.
  4. Client Services:

    • Oversee the delivery of services to clients, ensuring their needs are met and they receive appropriate support.
    • Address client concerns and complaints promptly and effectively.

  5. Data Management and Reporting:

    • Collect and analyze program data to monitor outcomes and measure success.
    • Prepare reports for the Program Director, funding agencies, and other stakeholders.

  6. Community Outreach and Collaboration:

    • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, organizations, and stakeholders.
    • Represent the organization at community meetings, events, and forums.
    • Collaborate with external agencies to enhance service delivery and resource sharing.
  7. Resource Development:

    • Assist in identifying funding opportunities and preparing grant proposals.
    • Support fundraising activities and events to secure additional resources for programs.
    • Manage program budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility.
  8. Professional Development:

    • Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and advancements in social services.
    • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
    • Mentor and support the professional growth of program staff.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in social services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proficiency in program management and data analysis.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Competence in using relevant software and technology for program management.
