The Arc of the Farmington Valley, Inc., more commonly known as Favarh, was founded in 1958 by eight local families who all wanted a better life for their children with intellectual disabilities. A small school was created in the basement of a local church because children with intellectual disabilities were not accepted into public schools at that time.

Today, Favarh (pronounced "FAY-var") is a local chapter of the Arc, the world's largest community-based organization for people with intellectual, physical and developmental disabilities. Favarh supports more than 350 adolescents, young adults, adults, seniors and families throughout the Greater Farmington Valley area and beyond.

We have more than 330 employees making us the largest employer in Canton. Our more than 100 active volunteers work in our Thrift Shop, participate in our Unified Sports Teams, participate in our creative arts and unified activities, and participate in fundraising efforts. Many of our employees freely choose to volunteer in one or more of these areas demonstrating the level of commitment and dedication to the mission and purpose of the agency. Some of our employees even started out as volunteers and some of our former employees continue to volunteer after they move on.

The HR Training & Development Coordinator (TDC) is a critical role reporting to the Director of Human Resources. This role will interface with new hires, current employees, and leadership. The TDC will run our monthly onboarding & training class for new hires. This role is an intricate part of the candidate experience through the entire onboarding process. Including identifying additional training for existing employees for career development. The TDC must possess a strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and shift gears when needed depending on the tasks at hand.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for coordinating new hire orientation training, including scheduling the training space, scheduling and confirming trainers, scheduling attendees, and confirming training attendance.
  • Facilitates and proctors training sessions, enters new hire training times into E-Time, and coordinates off-cycle training of new hires, including tracking their progress.
  • Oversees the Relias Learning Management System (LMS), including tracking training attendance, expiration of certifications, setting up new users, and routine system auditing.
  • Maintains the Trainer's Roster, oversees external training sessions, registration, and payment, prepares training materials, sets up training space, provides support to staff using online training systems.
  • Oversees the Med Certification Program, and proctors exams.
  • Assists in developing career paths for staff to support professional development and identifies training opportunities for all staff.
  • Facilitates training sessions required for employment, including PMT, OSHA, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Safe Swallowing.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma/GED, BA preferred
  • Two years minimum training experience required with an interest in human resources field
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft products).
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments.
  • Sensitive to varying levels of understanding and always provide excellent customer service, adapting to individual needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with the information one has access to or information one receives through the course and scope of the position.
