Summary: The Food Safety Coordinator maintains the documentation critical for the Quality Systems, HACCP and Food Safety Plans and SQF Programs. This position is also one of the backups for the Food Safety Quality Manager and assists with verifying that programs are being executed properly and develops and conducts training programs.
Essential Job Functions:
• Ensure quality, sanitation, and production records are legible, accurate, complete, maintained, and easily retrievable. • Update and maintain facility batch and quality related records. • Assist in the drafting, revision, and maintenance of plant standard operating procedures. • Participate in plant food safety/quality inspections, in-process inspections, mock recalls, label audits, HACCP audits, and calibrations as required. • Maintain quality related manuals and records (i.e. SQF training, batch records, pest control documentation, customer specific files, etc.), HACCP/Preventive control documents. • Assist in investigations in response to customer concerns or other quality related deviations to determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions. • Assist in the management of quality hold activities, including non-conforming product inventories. • Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. • Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. • Assist in the job responsibilities of the FSQ Manager. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:
• Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certification • Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventative Controls Experience • Experience with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) • Two (2) years’ experience in a food processing environment.
Preferred Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in food science, chemistry, or related life science • SQF Practitioner Certification (or Equivalent) • Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Certification • Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications/programs • Communication Skills – oral and written. _________________________________________________
