Boston, United States Parity Full time
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSenior Building Intelligence Engineer - Boston

ABOUT PARITY:

Buildings in our beautiful cities, where we live and work, are producing 40% of the CO2 going into our atmosphere and contributing to climate change. We need to HEAT, VENTILATE, and AIR CONDITION our buildings 24/7. Most of the energy consumed in a building is for our comfort, but 50% of it is wasted This is because buildings have little to no technology to control this.

Parity is a Remote HVAC Optimization as a Service company. We remotely control and optimize HVAC systems 24/7/365 to deliver automatic energy savings and revenue to multifamily residential buildings and hotels. Using advanced algorithms, Parity can predict the amount of energy needed ahead of time to operate a building to meet its residents' demands and adapt the building's systems and machinery in real time. We save our customers:

  1. Time - we automate setpoint adjustments and demand response protocols. Our Pi (Parity Insights) dashboard provides early alerting services when things go down.
  2. Money - Parity contractually guarantees the savings that we expect to deliver to our multifamily customers. We also provide quarterly and annual energy savings reports.
  3. CO2 Emissions - we reduce a building’s emissions by optimizing its HVAC systems and reducing energy waste.

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Senior Building Intelligence Engineer based in the Boston metro area to join our team and help us ensure that all of our client’s buildings are adapted to work successfully with Parity.

Leveraging your background in Engineering and knowledge of HVAC automation/control systems, you will partner with our Sales & Operations teams to ensure that all buildings in our portfolio are quoted, set up, and optimized throughout their time with us. We are looking for someone hungry, eager to learn, and passionate about the energy and ClimateTech space

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct on-site assessments of our client's buildings to prepare initial estimated savings, integration costs, and savings for Parity’s service
  • Use Parity’s modeling tools to complete an energy analysis of our potential client’s buildings based on the on-site assessments, historical utility data, mechanical equipment specs, available building drawings, and current control sequences to estimate the energy savings potential
  • Manage the installation and set-up phase of Parity’s service from start to finish to ensure projects are completed on schedule and budget while keeping clients updated on progress throughout the length of each project
  • Establishing communication between Parity’s software platform and field controllers/devices in our client’s buildings, along with establishing and testing control sequence(s) with support from Parity’s programming team to reduce energy waste
  • Complete final commissioning and sign off of systems to ensure that Parity, Client, and incentive program requirements are met
  • Manage incentive application and procurement process on behalf of Parity
  • Interview building staff to understand existing control protocols and challenges
  • Support the sales team by providing them with market details, contacts, and help them develop proposals
  • Support Party’s service delivery team as a local technical resource as needed for buildings that are live in the Parity system
  • Work with our Operations team to provide support to our customers during and after installation
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the local incentive landscape including determining eligible incentives and relevant requirements for Parity service
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local electrical, mechanical, and controls contractors
  • Manage procurement of necessary hardware and installation services pricing from contractors
  • Help to optimize existing systems and processes to best serve the Boston market
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Boston’s Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO) and other relevant local policies, regulations, and trends

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An academic background in Engineering, with a passion for HVAC, building automation, or mechanical/electrical engineering
  • 2-5 years experience working in at least one of the following areas:
    • Energy auditing, and/or energy services
    • MEP Engineering
    • Controls/Building Automation
  • Familiarity working with energy incentive programs
  • Ability to travel to client sites within the greater Boston area
  • You are eager to grow, learn, and tackle new opportunities in a fast-growing startup environment
  • You are a quick learner who only needs to be shown something once before doing it yourself, and then going back to improve the process
  • You constantly seek efficiency and optimization of processes and procedures; you look for gaps and work to fill them
  • Preference will be given to candidates with any of the following additional qualifications:
    • Experience working with MEP drawings, including controls drawings
    • Experience managing installation/retrofit projects
    • Experience working with building automation systems
    • Experience with Niagara Tridium products and applications

WHY JOIN US?

Join Parity during a period of tremendous growth in a key role that directly contributes to our future success. You will contribute to a world-changing service that is working to make the world a better place through reduced CO2 emissions in multifamily buildings and hotels. You will also have the autonomy to learn and grow in a fast-moving, start-up environment. Plus, you can enjoy these perks:

  • Benefits: Parity offers a comprehensive health benefits package - health is wealth
  • Hybrid Work Environment: This is a hybrid position, with two mandatory in-office days per week.  However, it will require time onsite at customer buildings.

If you require accommodation during the recruitment process, including alternate formats of materials, accessible meeting rooms, or other accommodations, please let us know and we will work with you to meet your needs.

Parity welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
