Position Overview:
We are urgently seeking a detail-oriented and organized Air & Ocean Import/Export Clerk to join our dynamic team in Torrance, CA. This role is critical in managing and coordinating the import and export operations for both air and ocean freight. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of freight forwarding processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document Management: Handle and manage all necessary documentation, including AES filings, Bill of Lading (BOL), load plans, and manifests, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Operations Coordination: Schedule and coordinate pick-ups with carriers, ensuring timely and efficient transportation of goods.
- Client & Vendor Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients and vendors to provide updates on shipment statuses, address inquiries, and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Shipment Tracking: Update and maintain accurate shipment files, tracking the progress of imports and exports to ensure on-time delivery.
- Data Entry & Reporting: Utilize software like Excel, Word, and other relevant programs to generate reports, enter data, and maintain records.
- Cargowise Utilization: Leverage Cargowise or similar platforms for managing logistics operations, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently.
- Compliance: Ensure that all operations comply with relevant laws and regulations, including AES and SCE requirements.
Required Experience:
- Freight Forwarding Expertise: At least 1 year of experience in a freight forwarding company, with a solid understanding of import/export processes.
- Document Management: Proficient in handling load plans, manifests, Bill of Lading, and other shipping-related documents.
- Carrier & Booking Knowledge: Familiarity with carriers, freight booking procedures, and the overall logistics chain.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and similar computer programs, with the ability to quickly learn new software.
- Cargowise Experience: Prior experience with Cargowise or similar logistics management software is strongly preferred.
