International Freight Forwarding Manager

Job Summary
The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) International Freight Forwarding is responsible for ensuring that Import and Export operations in a Large Branch meet service commitments, revenue, and profit goals. This role oversees the implementation of security, safety, and quality systems administered by ISO 9001, TAPA, C-TPAT, AS9120, and Yusens initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Import function in the Branch, ensuring compliance with federal and foreign regulations, and performing activities in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Provide consultative support to Import Managers and CHB Managers to evaluate import requirements, design corrective action plans, and drive implementation.
- Ensure consistent application of standard operating procedures and import compliance audit programs in accordance with corporate and governmental guidelines.
- Provide training on policies, procedures, and service standards for customs clearance operations, determining the level of import compliance training required for all staff levels.
- Work with Branch leadership and Sales teams to improve operations and expand revenue from customs services.
- Actively participate in the RFP process related to full-range customs services.
- Ensure compliance requirements are factored in for all new business acquisitions and account development.
- Meet key performance indicators targets for Import Operations.
Export Operations

- Provide consultative support to Export Managers and Supervisors to evaluate export requirements, design corrective action plans, and drive implementation.

- Provide training on policies, procedures, and service standards for export operations, determining the level of export compliance training required for all staff levels.
- Work with Branch leadership and Sales teams to improve operations and expand revenue from export services.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise Import Managers, CHB Managers, and Export Managers for both Air and Ocean departments.
- Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with Yusens policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a related field plus a minimum 7 years of related experience in International Freight Forwarding/NVOCC/Logistics.
- 4+ years of management experience.
- Extensive knowledge of both Import and Export Operations (Air & Ocean) in an International Freight Forwarder organization.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external customers verbally and in writing.
