Job Title: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

Location: Cherry County Hospital and Clinic, Valentine NE

Overview: Cherry County Hospital and Clinic is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to provide visionary leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight of direct patient care activities within our esteemed healthcare institution. The CNO will play a pivotal role in driving a culture of excellence, fostering team member engagement, ensuring patient safety, enhancing the overall patient experience, and maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Strategize and implement process improvements aimed at enhancing clinical services, patient outcomes, and safety.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement programs addressing patient care needs.
  • Conduct regular analysis of nursing services to enhance quality of care through monthly Quality Assurance initiatives.
  • Foster harmonious relationships among nursing personnel, patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Actively participate in decision-making processes at the hospital level.
  • Cultivate relationships with community organizations to improve patient outcomes and community health.
  • Establish mechanisms for nurse involvement in shared governance and decision-making structures.
  • Attend trainings and hospital/clinic meetings.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patients' records and adherence to Corporate Compliance policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Extensive knowledge of nursing care standards.
  • Effective supervision and motivation of large teams.
  • Familiarity with the latest nursing procedures and techniques.
  • Understanding of performance improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Budgeting skills for effective departmental leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under stress and adapt to change.
  • Commitment to equality and dignity in patient care.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality laws, including HIPAA.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school.
  • Master's degree in nursing or relevant health science field.
  • 5+ years of management and supervisory experience, with at least 3 years in a hospital leadership role.
  • Current Registered Nurse license without restrictions.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting.
  • Ability to move equipment as needed.
  • Willingness to work on-call, evenings, weekends, or holidays if required.
  • Physical tasks such as standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Repetitive use of hands, arms, and eyes.
  • Clean and favorable working environment.
  • Occasional out-of-town travel may be necessary.
