Prairie Land Electric Cooperative (PLEC) is seeking a dynamic leader to take on the role of Director of Finance (DOF). This position is crucial for overseeing the financial health of our member-owned, not-for-profit rural electric distribution system.

As a pivotal member of the senior leadership team, the DOF will report directly to the CEO and will collaborate with six other department heads. The successful candidate will be responsible for steering the Cooperative's financial strategy, including Finance, Accounting, Purchasing, Billing, and Collections.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of five years of supervisory experience. While technical expertise is essential, the ability to lead effectively in a collaborative environment is of utmost importance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic financial leadership and guidance.
  • Participating in the Cooperative's strategic planning and execution processes.
  • Establishing and maintaining financial controls and budgeting principles.
  • Managing utility plant accounting, rate design, risk management, and investment portfolio oversight.

The successful candidate will be proficient in GAAP and FERC's Uniform Systems of Accounts, with strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. The ability to present financial data clearly to the Board, management, regulators, and stakeholders is essential.
