As a Shop Manager at Wolter, you will oversee and manage the daily operations of our shop, ensuring that our service technicians, lead techs, and foremen deliver top-notch service. Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the management team and staff to ensure effective customer service.
  • Develop systems and controls to ensure all commitments are met.
  • Maintain high standards of customer satisfaction.
  • Handle all service proposals for shop jobs, including additional repairs discovered once a job starts.
  • Ensure timely completion of jobs by monitoring work in progress.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, including conducting visits as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a skilled shop service tech staff, lead techs, and foremen.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and address any disciplinary needs.
  • Provide ongoing technical training to shop service techs.
  • Make primary decisions regarding new hires and terminations in the shop service department.
  • Share important information with the staff regularly.
  • Approve shop service invoicing before billing.
  • Backup shop foreman as needed.
  • Enforce safety standards, including 5S standards.
  • Investigate and document any work-related injuries or accidents.
  • Process New Truck Warranty claims as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • At least 5 years in a material handling service environment or similar industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to achieve results through others.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strategic planning skills with a one-to-two year planning horizon.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Technical proficiency in the products we service.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Valid Operators License for powered industrial equipment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Frequently sit, stand, walk, talk, listen, and operate machinery.
  • Frequently use hands for handling objects, tools, or controls, including computers and phones.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling to examine equipment.
  • Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment, with exposure to noisier shop environments and customer sites.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment as appropriate.

  • Team of Shop Service Technicians, Lead Technicians, and Shop Foreman.
