Senior Manager, Business Development (US Based)

The Senior Manager Business Development  - King Oscar North America is to be the local brand champion for the USA and Canadian markets. The candidate will be a significant influencer of day-to-day operations for the existing business and will be able to take responsibility for the management and implementation of the brand strategy. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

·       Support sales’ functions through the implementation of category management principles and analysis.

·       Provide ongoing leadership and direction for the business. 

·       Will be involved in the development and ownership of strategic plans & projects (including innovation) from inception to successful launch and post project analysis.

·       Coordination of strict deadlines, and essential timely updates to all stakeholders will be required during the process in close collaboration with the Sales Distributors, Marketing Agency & staff, Global King Oscar Marketing team in Bergen, Norway, International Manufacturing Facilities, Customer Service Center and Supply Chain Management team.

·       Have proven CPG professional experience with 4+ years of industry experience, willing to embrace a position that requires multiple skill sets, e.g., Thinking Strategically, Commercial Sales, Brand Marketing, Trade Marketing, Category Management, Data Analytics, E.com/Digital proficiency, and a proven understanding of operational business acumen. 

·       Must be comfortable working in an independent and entrepreneurial environment (with no direct reports). 

·       Self-motivated and self-regulating worker who enjoys the challenge of a fast-paced landscape, while also being an effective partner alongside internal peers throughout the organization (domestic and international) and across a multitude of functions including;  Distributor Sales & Broker network, Data Analytics (IRI/Nielsen), Marketing, Supply Chain, Distribution/Logistics, Category Management, Manufacturing, Product Development, Finance, Public Relations, Consumer Affairs, E.com/Digital, etc. 

·       Will also manage the day-to-day relationships between King Oscar and external business partners.

·       Must be comfortable in a leadership role and possess a broad range of business skills including strategic planning, brand management, sales, consumer marketing, trade marketing, and financial competency as it applies to an omni-channel landscape (store, mobile, and online).

·       Possess exceptional analytical skills and be able to scrutinize and navigate data from multiple sources, to identify sales opportunities and develop business propositions which will drive a desirable outcome (both short-term and long-term), understand competitive positions, advantages, weaknesses, and use sound logic to support business recommendations necessary to influence profitable volume growth.

·       Demonstrate leadership competencies and the ability to present business strategy, reviews and marketing concepts to small and large audiences.

·       Must possess superior communication & writing skills, as well as Excel and PowerPoint skills, are a must.

·       Extraordinary listener, able to represent all opinions and reach actionable conclusions that generate the desired outcome.

·       Develop a strong interpersonal relationship with stakeholders and demonstrate the ability to operate successfully within a “matrix organization.”

·       Comfortable interacting with all functions of business to effectively coordinate and profitably deliver strategic business plans (critical functions include Senior Leadership, Sales Personnel, Marketing Agencies, Third Party Suppliers, International Support Functions, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Customers). 

·       Able to accept meaningful challenges to expand the business with confidence, high energy, and a positive outlook, able to take calculated risks, make decisions, and learn from experiences.

·       Have practical knowledge of project management, building business cases with clear and concise logic, orchestrating all aspects of the project, financial estimates, forecasting, promotional activities, and monthly tracking & reporting.

·       Willing to operate in an extremely autonomous environment, be a self-motivated individual, have confidence to make decisions with conviction, orchestrate seamless communication across the organization, and demonstrate an exceptional work ethic.

 

Experience/Education:

·       Bachelor’s degree in business (Management, Marketing, or equivalent) (MBA is desirable)

·       4 +years CPG experience (minimum 7 years)

·       Seafood Industry Sales experience a plus

·       1 +Years CPG Cross Functional experience, e.g., Sales, Trade Marketing, Classical Marketing, Financial experience, Category Management experience (minimum 1 year)

·       Interested in expanding business experience to include General Management

·       Superior command of the English Language (Oral and Written)

·       Effective Presentation Skills

·       Bi-lingual Language Skills are a PLUS (French/Spanish)

·       Microsoft Office Suite Competent – Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

·       Superior Analytical Competency

·       IRI / Nielsen syndicated data expertise

·       Strong fiscal acumen

·       Exceptional project management capabilities

·       Exceptional work ethic

·       Independently motivated / self-starter / solution oriented

·       Ability to work in small office surroundings

·       Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (30%)

·       Able to adapt and react to a dynamic marketplace

·       Possess entrepreneurial mindset
