Our Business Unit Manager position is a key member of our management team and is responsible for leading and growing our specific market segments through the product development process and customer product management. Responsibilities include creating market strategies, providing technical product knowledge, leading cross-functional work teams, collaborating with manufacturing and engineering groups, and growing the overall sales of the responsible market segment (Body Armor).

Responsibilities

  • Enhance customer satisfaction by providing a quality product on me.
  • Oversee business development opportunities and working with local and global partners to plan appropriate support for short-term and long-term objectives including capacity requirements, sales and marketing needs, technical support, and all other related functions to the market segment.
  • Understand competitive market landscape and study how new opportunities can be tackled with our innovative solutions.
  • Define requirement to meet needs of existing and emerging customers and ensure consistency with overall business strategies.
  • Conduct customer and product rationalizations.
  • Collaborate with the sales and manufacturing teams to provide specific requirements and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Ensure the RFQ process is accurate and supports a healthy business environment.
  • Responsible for category controllable aspects of the P&L including costs, % GM, rebates, returns, freight, sales, and marketing spend, etc.
  • Manage Business Unit MBR (Monthly Business Review) and BU dashboard.
  • Ensure team members are developed and cross trained.
  • Report on category status to Executive Management regularly and oversee pricing strategy.
  • Work closely with other functions (Operations Support, Finance, HR, etc) to ensure support and alignment to the Business Unit strategy.
  • Assist in the hiring process and train new employees as they enter your market segment team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or 10+ years of manufacturing experience in the specific market segment (Body Armor Market)
  • Professional Project Management Certification and/or Education a plus; proven track record of project management abilities and collaboration experiences across technical teams required.
  • Previous experience driving product and innovation teams, developing marketing plans, oversight of business development opportunities, and expert knowledge of products.
  • Highly proficient with computers utilizing Microsoft Office applications and NetSuite (or other ERP system)
  • Strong project management fundamentals.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effectively multi-task while maintaining an excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work and contribute to a team approach with a positive attitude and outlook.
  • Willingness to work additional hours during busy seasons.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
