The best candidate for our Compliance Specialist position will include vendor compliance, approval/denial of vendors, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance procedures are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the company’s compliance department by reviewing current procedures and implementing new strategies for adherence to company policies to protect the company and our customers.
  • Evaluate prospective and existing independent carriers and provide input on risk assessment of vendors and ultimately make decisions on the approval or denial of such vendors
  • Maintain accurate and up to date database records of vendors on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  • Serve as a liaison between independent carrier insurance companies and OSFS’s insurance company.
  • Processing and purchasing Declared Value cargo insurance requests.
  • Working with our Transportation Management System (TMS) to keep vendors up to date, qualified, and the documentation is current
  • Specializes in vetting and managing outside carriers, including warehousing, pick-up and delivery, draymen, less than truckload and truckload with precision and dedication.
  • Familiarization with contracts, operating authority, insurance requirements, state, and federal regulations.
  • Responsible for vendor management, including updating information, updating insurance certification, tariffs, and applicable information for operations.
  • Assist in identifying process improvements and procedures searching for upgraded and streamlined processes to vet vendors to enhance productivity.
  • Identify and mitigate risk associated with external vendors to safeguard our customers product and our supply chain.
  • Rigorous screening process to ensure reliability and compliance.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree in accounting or related field preferred).
  • 3 plus years of compliance, transportation, logistics or insurance experience
  • Experience with compliance, working with carriers and vetting carriers.
  • Ability to make critical and independent compliance decisions in vetting of carriers
  • Exceptional listening, writing and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate and provide service both face to face and via email or telephone.
  • Familiarity with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) as supported by the Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • Previous experience working with a TMS.
  • Highly organized self-starter, excellent attention to detail, exceptional ability to multi-task
  • Strong analytical and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency in transportation management software and tools.
  • Comfortable with technology including WorldTrak, FMCSA Safer Program, Carrier 411, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service.
