Job Description

The Director, Accounting will own accounting operations for the management company of a large portfolio of entities and employees. This person will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting, general ledger, payroll, and reporting for the corporate company, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all accounting transactions. We are looking for a strong leader that is comfortable in hands-on role and that isn't afraid of being a 'doer' in an incredibly dynamic, matrix-like environment. This person must know how to both perform and lead all of the general accounting functions including accounts payable, expense reporting, payroll, etc., as well as the reporting functions including consolidations. 

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage and lead the accounting and financial reporting to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial data on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Prepare the financial consolidations of 10+ entities, review the consolidated statements, and deliver financial performance metrics.
  • Manage the accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. 
  • Oversee all payroll processing, compliance, and associated accounting for a diverse set of employees around the world. 
  • Ensure all expense reporting is processed in a timely manner and that all corporate policies are adhered to. 
  • Partner with the leadership teams and divisional stakeholders on the development and management of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis. 
  • Work with corporate tax department to deliver all of the financial data for tax preparation including 1099s, 1042, 1071, etc. 
  • Manage the accounting staff in the day-to-day activities, providing both guidance and hands-on support (as needed) across all areas of transaction processing, posting, and close. 
  • Responsible for the corporate entity accounting, as well as accounting for various partnerships. 

Experience/Qualifications

  • An experienced leader with minimum 5- 10 years of proven track record, preferably in a family office, private investment, or management company environment 
  • A decisive individual who possesses a "big picture" perspective and is proficient in systems
  • Degree from a 4-year accredited university, preferably MBA or Master degree in Economics/Finance;
  • Must have in-depth experience in performing and managing the full GL accounting cycle with specific experience in payroll (processing and accounting), expense reporting, and financial consolidations 
  • Proficiency using large-scale ERPs with high preference for NetSuite ERP
  • Result orientation and sense of urgency
  • Able to work as a hands-on manager and meets set deadlines
  • Strong business sense
