GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  The QC Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for supervision of all activities and employees of Quality Control Laboratory – Chemistry Lab.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:

•    Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day activities, tasks, scheduling, and training of analysts in the laboratory. 
•    Assist in implementing quality and regulatory requirements.
•    Responsible for initiating and execution of change control actions for lab-based testing requirements.
•    Leads laboratory OOS investigations and concludes with corrective actions.
•    Schedule analytical validation protocols.
•    Review and approve analytical data.
•    Release finished goods and raw materials from the QC laboratory.
•    Ensure laboratory readiness for and participate during regulatory inspections and internal audits.
•    Evaluate and recommend improvements to analytical methods.
•    Performs instrument/method troubleshooting within analytical method parameters. 
•    Review analytical testing records/logbooks for compliance with cGMPs.
•    Documents, develops and applies strategies to ensure achievement of scientific objectives by monitoring/ evaluating the completion of tasks. 
•    Functions as a subject matter expert within the analytical laboratory and provides support.
•    Assist with the development of Company SOPs, policies, and procedures for the Department.
•    Comply with Company SOPs and policies. 
•    Perform duties of QC Lab Technicians/Chemists as needed.
•    Performs annual review of data generated by the Quality Control Laboratory. Generates data figures and trends. Presents and evaluates annual results to the Quality Control Laboratory Manager.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    This position supervises employees in the department and is responsible for coordinating with the Quality Control Lab Manager in the performance management and hiring of employees within the department. 
•    Execute performance management to include planning, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating performance of personnel. 
•    Provide training, constructive feedback, and conduct performance reviews to direct reports.  
•    Enforce company policies.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
•    In depth knowledge of chemistry testing procedures and the ability to develop and improve laboratory procedures.
•    Extensive knowledge of ISO 17025 and 21 CFR Good Manufacturing Practices
•    Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others, and provide instructions to all lab personnel. 
•    Good visual observation skills.
•    Proficient in MS Office.
•    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
•    Good problem-solving skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
•    Manual dexterity skills to use testing equipment and perform tests.
•    Lift up to 20 lbs. when needed. 
•    Sit up to one hour at a time.
•    Stand/remain upright up to four hours at a time.  
•    Bend, squat, kneel, turn, twist and stoop.
•    Reach forward and overhead.  
•    Good eye/hand coordination.
•    Visual acuity skills to set up equipment perform tests on products and raw materials.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
•    Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related sciences.
•    2 years of Supervisory work experience in a laboratory supporting pharmaceutical and/or dietary supplements manufacturing.
